Can smoke detectors be mounted on the wall, instead of the ceiling?Would like to do hardwired smoke detectors, but to wire through the ceiling would be a major Pain. I can easily come up thru the closet and drill a hole on the wall, but is this acceptacle?Do CO and Heat detectors work on the wall as well? Thanks

Depends on the ceiling, whether it's a cathedral, tray or anything other than a standard flat ceiling.

Otherwise, smokes are mounted in a range of 4-12" down from the corner where the wall/ceiling meet.

CO's are I/A/W the manufacturer's directions, but the ones I've put in are generally similar to smoke detector location.

I have 9 foot flat ceilings, so it sounds like I will be ok mounting on the walls.

I will research more on placement, but would like to order hardwire if I know I can get the wires to the smokes.

    thanks.
